In the summer of 2021, there's a constant feeling of uncertainty about how our service to society will be able to include the significant connections between people that were enjoyed by Rotary participants in the past. Even though the "hands facing space" principle is certainly a the norm in our lives it is clear that the faith in Rotary is increasing and more people are making face-toface connections. The Rotary organization has evolved. As we flow through the summer months in 2021 there's a lingering sense of uncertainty regarding how our social service includes the highly valued human connection experienced by Rotary participants in the past. Though the old adage of 'hands faces will certainly remain a part of our daily program, it's clear that the confidence building is evident and more face-to-face connections are happening. The reality is that Rotary has evolved. Rotary's network creates bonds that last. The Pandemic was an impetus for us to adopt technological advances. While maintaining our online meetings for business meetings but we have reintroduced interactions with others and serve using a safe face-to-face format. We've embraced the newest possibilities and merged these with our habits for preventing pandemics to provide an optimistic future for Rotary! It's encouraging to know that 75 percent of Rotary clubs intend to keep their "business like usual" routines. During the summer, many Rotary club members have been seen in public focusing on various initiatives, including beach and river cleanings and litter pick-ups. I am thankful for the opportunities Rotary offered me in 2002 to become an official member. As with many others, Rotary members, it has given me an extremely reliable group of people who are like-minded who have formed genuine relationships developed over these almost 20 years.
